While growing up in Hillsborough, New Jersey, Dustin was first introduced to the performing arts through community theater when he was three years old. After about 7 years of theater, Dustin began learning trumpet and quickly transitioned from the stage to the pit band. Throughout public school, he took every opportunity to play his trumpet by joining the jazz bands, brass ensemble, marching band, and more.
Dustin graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2018 with a B.S in music education and is now pursuing a career as a professional trumpet player. He has performed in pit bands for countless musicals, performed in bands at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA and HersheyPark in Hershey, PA, has been part of four different stage shows at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA, and has performed with local bands and orchestras. Dustin performed with the Hairspray National Tour, where he performed over 300 shows across the country. He most recently performed at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine during productions of "Tootsie" and "The Sound of Music."
The performing arts has been a very large part of Dustin’s life. He believes there is a way to connect music to every experience and emotion in life, and he aims to explore the different paths of expression. His passion for music expands beyond just playing trumpet. In recent months, Dustin has been exploring and learning about music production and video editing, as well as trombone performance. Dustin plans to use these skills to put out his own original content.
As an educator, Dustin's teachings focus heavily on fundamentals and sound so that technique becomes second nature and the player can focus on musicality. Trumpet is a strong, heroic instrument that sings on top of any ensemble, but it also has a soft, sensitive, and beautiful side. It’s just fun to play! Getting to share his love for music and for trumpet is Dustin’s favorite part of being an educator, and he is excited to help his students reach their goals.
